I’ve been really busy

The garden is doing really well if it would just quit raining long enough to get into it without sinking up to your ankles in mud.  It really needs to be weeded and what little we can do isn’t enough.  It’s not bad but if we don’t stop it before  long, it will be awful and I can’t stand to see a garden full of weeds.

Oh did you see that Ty got eliminated Tuesday night?  Carrie Ann called him the MVP of the season.  He should be really proud of himself.  I know his wife, Jewel is.  It’s a shame she got hurt before the show even started and couldn’t compete too but it might have been a blessing in disguise.  If she had gotten voted off before him, that might have been really bad for them as a husband and wife, ya know what I mean?

I did not know this

I had no idea just how many people will not eat a brown chicken egg.  We have chickens and every once in a while, we get way too many eggs.  I have taken them to work before and put on them that they were free for the taking.  Believe it or not but the only teachers that would take them were the ones that I knew grew up on a farm or out in the country where someone probably had chickens and gave their family eggs.

These younger teachers have never eaten an egg fresh out of a chicken.  They want them from a grocery store as if they didn’t come out of a chicken or something.  How silly is that?  My eggs are a lot fresher than the ones they buy in a grocery store.

Well that was a surprise!!

I don’t know if you watch Dancing with the stars or not but tonight was the elimination night.  Melissa, Shawn, Ty, Lil Kim, and Gilles were left and one of them had to go home tonight.  I figured that Gilles, Melissa, Shawn and Lil Kim would be in the final four.  Well I was totally wrong.  Believe it or not but Lil Kim was eliminated!!  I’m sorry but I think she’s a much better dancer than Ty.

I have the greatest respect for Ty’s accomplishment in this season.  Who would have thought that a cowboy, a real cowboy at that, would have done as well as he has but Lil Kim should have been in the final four.  That just proves that the fans calling in have a huge power in determining who stays and who goes.  I didn’t realize just how important it was to call in and  vote until now.   I honestly wish Ty the best of luck but I believe that the final four is as high as he goes.  I could be wrong and it sure won’t be the first time or the last as far as that goes.

Finally found all we wanted

Well we had to go online to gurneys.com to find the seeds we needed and they should be here by the weekend.  Even they were sold out of a lot of seeds.  That’s good for them because that means their business must be up but there are so many that are completely going out of business around here that it’s really getting scary.

The stores that are doing the best are the consignment shops and discount shops like that.  Their business is booming.  People are trying to save money any way they can and that’s a good way to save.  Yard sales are popping up everywhere too.  So are the foreclosures unfortunately.  There are more and more layoff every week it seems.  Hopefully it will start turning around soon.

We’re planting our garden today

Well it’s time to plant our garden.  We already had broccoli, cauliflower, onions, cabbage and radishes planted but it’s time for green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, corn and what ever else we’re planting this year.  We always have a garden but rarely do we plant the whole thing because it’s a pretty large garden but with the prices of food in the grocery store, we’re planting it all this year.

I always home can or freeze whatever we get out of the garden.  I also give some to people that I know could use some help.  It’s the least I can do when I have so much.  If the garden produces like it usually does, we’ll have more than plenty for ourselves.  The only problem is that it’s really hard to find seeds this year.  We have never had any trouble finding the seeds or plants we wanted until this year.  I guess there are a lot of people planting gardens this year to try and save some money.  I can’t say as I blame them either.  I sure hope things turn around soon!!!
