I was able to watch just a bit of Ellen yesterday, I did glimpse over to see Hillary for a few seconds but didn’t catch enough of it, so I was glad to see in the paper that they spoke of it so I know that it really happened:

“Hillary Rodham Clinton is getting some help from a special guest during a fundraiser at George Washington University.

Ellen DeGeneres popped up during Clinton’s speech to ask how everyone was doing and to praise Clinton’s ability to solve problems. DeGeneres was beamed into the auditorium by satellite from her studio in New York, prompting loud cheers from the audience.

She turned serious, asking Clinton how she could change the momentum in her campaign after 11 straight losses to Democratic rival Barack Obama. Clinton says she’ll win Ohio and Texas.

It was Clinton’s fourth appearance on the Ellen Degeneres program.”

So it is Oprah for Obama & Ellen for Hillary - how about that!  Now, what talk show host is for John McCain?

My life has changed drastically since moving to the Shenandoah Valley area, we moved here 8 years ago, I was at that time working as an Office Manager for a Body Shop making $35,000 annually and look at me now, working at the local mall at a popular shoe store a few nights a week, for just a bit more than minimum wage.

Hubby’s health has made it where he requires constant care and I can’t be away from the house for too long, so working part-time is my only option at the moment.  I have worked at several stores at the mall and know a lot of people there, it really is like a mini community, people come and go so fast that the turnover is outrageous and the stores are always looking for help.

When we first moved here and I needed a job desperately I even rang the bell for the Salvation Army, outside of the mall, until I could land something else.  That is a job that I will never ever consider doing again.  Standing outside during the winter, for 6 hours at a time ringing that stupid bell was extremely tedious.  One day after a cold, long shift, I was standing in line at the grocery store when I found myself still shaking my hand, simulating the bell ringing, and had to laugh at myself for not being able to stop shaking my hand well after my shift was over.  I never knew that there was so many ways to ring a bell.

This has been such a crazy winter season, I’m pretty well convinced that Global Warming is affecting the wacky weather conditions we are experiencing.

School has been cancelled again today, we were expecting a really bad snow and ice storm, but so far it hasn’t amounted to much, but they really were not sure what to expect and they have learned to be cautious.

My youngest daughter CR got numerous gift cards for Christmas so we are going to go to the Mall here in a little while and we are gonna shop for some sales.  I enjoy shopping with her, the difference between her and my oldest daughter is uncanny, the oldest wants to buy everything and doesn’t care if I can afford it or not, while the youngest takes everything into consideration and feels uncomfortable in having me spend any money on her.  She would rather spend her own.

CR works hard for her money with her Dad at the flea market almost every weekend.  She is known as the ‘banker’ in the house, she almost always has $$ and doesn’t mind lending it to any of us when we need it.

During the summer and fall she takes the veggies that we grow in the garden and sells them at the flea market in the city.  People just love buying fresh produce from a pretty little girl from the country.  We don’t really live in the country but compared to the big city, we might as well be.  She also learned to buy cases of bottled water for $4 and sells each bottle for $1 at the market and she cleans up.  Plus she has made friends with some of the other dealers and they hire her to watch their stand for them when needed and she helps them pack and load up at the end of the day.  Sometimes she comes home with more money than her Dad.

Got an invitation to a baby shower in the mail the other day, was looking forward to attending it, it’s been several years since I attended one.

My step-brothers wife is expecting their 2nd baby and I was going to hitch a ride with my sister to the shower to help save on gas.  Gas is going up so much lately, today I paid $3.10 a gallon, that is so rediculous.

Went to work last night and we told that I have to attend a manditory training session on the same day that the shower is being held, go figure.  Nothing I can do about it other than emailing the host and letting her know that I won’t be able to attend after all.  My sister is bummed also, she was looking forward to spending some time together and possibly driving around the old neighborhood that we grew up in, since the shower is being held in our old stomping grounds.

I hate working retail, give me a Monday thru Friday, 9-5 kind of job anyday, but until Hubby’s health gets better I am stuck working a job that schedules me on different days of the week all the time.  It makes it very difficult to schedule anything, it sucks.

CR has been invited to her best friends birthday party tomorrow at Teddy-Be-Stuffed which of course is at the Mall.  After the party I’ll pick her up and the two of us will head on down to my sister’s to spend the night and celebrate her son’s birthday which is today.

Her son would like a gift card from Best Buy.  While CR and I were out and about today I went to the store that I thought was Best Buy and lo and behold it’s a Circuit City instead, boy did I feel foolish.  A quick cell phone call to my nephew and he assured me that he likes Circuit City also, so as not to worry.

My sister just moved from New England a year ago to a county that is just over an hour away from our house.  She was in New England for 30 years, so it is so cool to have her so close, instead of over 1000 miles away.  I wish she had moved a bit closer to me so that I could see her more often, but at least she is in the same state and I get to see her about once a month which is cool.
